The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn

If you’re looking for a timeless guide to manifesting abundance, happiness, and success, The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn is an absolute gem.

What makes this book so special is its simplicity. Shinn uses clear, concise lessons and relatable examples to explain big concepts like faith, affirmations, and the power of visualization. It’s a great choice if you’re new to manifestation or spirituality because it breaks everything down in a way that’s easy to understand and apply to your own life.

One of the key ideas in the book is seeing life as a “game” where your thoughts and actions are the moves you make. Shinn teaches you how to align with universal laws to “win” this game – whether that means achieving financial freedom, attracting meaningful relationships, or finding inner peace. Her wisdom feels uplifting and empowering, like a gentle nudge from a friend reminding you that you’re capable of so much more than you think.

The Game of Life and How to Play It – Our Verdict!

Why we love it…

Hey, it’s Carla here! Both Naomi and I love this book and highly recommend it, but I have read it several times, first having listened to it being read on YouTube. That’s the thing about the Law of Attraction –you don’t just read about something once and move on. The more you read, listen, and absorb, the more these ideas start to stick and show up in your life.

This is the kind of book you’ll come back to again and again, like me – discovering new insights each time. It always amazes me how you can read a book more than once and take something completely new away each time.

Why you should buy it…

Whether you’re starting your journey or revisiting these timeless truths, The Game of Life and How to Play It is a must-read. As mentioned above, the simplicity is what is great for beginners. It’s easy to understand and to follow. You’ll take away so much from it.

Because it was written nearly 100 years ago, there are references to God throughout. In our journey with the Law of Attraction many people call this Spirit, Source, or The Universe – it doesn’t have to be God. So don’t be put off by that. Just know that is what she calls source.

My top tip…

Get a hard copy of the book and also listen to it on Audible or YouTube. It’s a short book, so it’s really easy to listen to in one go.

As you read, highlight the parts that resonate with you. Some of the lessons are so simple yet so powerful, and having those key points to refer back to will make all the difference. Trust me, combining reading with listening makes the principles even easier to live by – and that’s when the magic really starts to happen!
